Confirmation

Confirmation is an anointing of grace that strengthens the Christian for a life of mature discipleship. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1302-03):

It is evident from its celebration that the effect of the sacrament of Confirmation is the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost.

From this fact, Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace:

At St. Patrick, the sacrament of Confirmation is typically conferred on eighth graders.

Students are required to complete a two-year formation process through our parish religious education. The program we use is called “Chosen.”

In addition to the weekly classes, there is a required parent meeting for Confirmation and a Saturday retreat for the students.

More information on Confirmation and the necessary forms are on the Religious Education page.
